A vaccine essentially consists of a substance resembling the disease-causing agent, a pathogen, in structure or activity. The basic work of a vaccine is to educate our immune system about the pathogen and feed how the fight it in its memory. In case of a future infiltration, the body’s response system uses this memory to recall and fight the pathogen to destroy it before it can cause any damage.

Similarly, the Covid-19 vaccine consists of a spiked protein that resembles the spikes on the coronavirus itself. This vaccine feeds the structure of the virus to the memory of your immune system which it can recall when faced with a real infection.

It is seen historically that whenever a vaccine is introduced, the incidence of an infectious disease drops drastically. The list of human diseases that are vaccine-preventable is long and growing.

Vaccines have prevented the eradication of smallpox and the near-eradication of polio, as well as over 20 other life-threatening illnesses, averting an estimated 2-3 million deaths per year. Every year, India’s Universal Immunization Program immunizes around 26 million children, making it one of the world’s largest. Through historic precedence, it is expected that the vaccinations developed for coronavirus will prove very beneficial in putting an end to this pandemic.

The numerous warnings you might have received for the vaccination do not suggest that the vaccine is anywhere unsafe. There was initially a lot of controversy around Covaxin.

How, they asked, could a vaccine that was still in the testing phase be approved for emergency use by millions of susceptible people? An incompletely researched vaccination had confused the All India Drug Action Network at the time.

Covaxin was defended by both the company and the drug regulator as “safe” and “providing a strong immunological response.”

Indian clinical trial rules, according to Bharat Biotech, enable “expedited” approval of medications beyond the second phase of studies for “unmet medical requirements of critical and life-threatening disorders in the nation.”

As long as Covishield is concerned, there is absolutely nothing to worry about. The vaccine is produced out of “adenovirus” from chimpanzees, which has been modified to make it less potent.” It has been altered to resemble the coronavirus and can not cause the disease itself.
